How Should Bowel Movements With Unusual Stool Be Treated?

I just noticed that in my last few BMs that I ve had what almost looks like skinny rubber bands coming out from the lumps of feces. They are not moving or anything. They are skinny, like 1/8th of an inch and flat but do not appear to be segmented. They also seem to be a bit stretchy... what in the world could this be? Parasites? My fiance and I had sushi a few days ago, but mine was all with cooked eel and shrimp and he hasn t had any similar issues. I know I should get to a doctor ASAP but I do not have any form of insurance and am kind of out of luck. I just want to see if I can figure out what this could be and if there are any home remedies (or if I need to bite the bullet and go to a doctor if it is an emergency). Thank you!

Hello,

A single episode of altered stool texture cannot be alarming for instance but repeated change consistent over a period of time is somewhat doubtful.

Primary care with hydration, diet measures to avoid spices, junk high fiber intake, bulk-forming laxatives, probiotics as Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces boulardii will help greatly.
