How Often Is A Negative Pregnancy Test A Positive Pregnancy?

Hi. My last period was April 10th and I have irregular periods that go from 38 days to 40. I am late for my period and on the 15th of May I had really light spotting for 3 days. I took a pregnancy test the day before and day of my missed period and both were negative. Today I took one when I woke up that was positive then another cheap dollar test this afternoon that showed negative. How often is a false positive/

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns..

In your case after reading your question I can understand that the pregnancy test which you took on day before and on the day of missed period cannot give you exact result as the HCG levels which need to be there to make test positive will not be present at that time. I suggest you to repeat the test and also consult your OBGYN for a scan if its already 5 weeks. False positive is seen very often with negative result but still I suggest you to consult your OBGYN to rule out pregnancy. Hope this will help you.
