How Long Will The Numbness, Pricking Sensation In The Site Of Vein Removal For CABG Last?
Hi I am 41 year old female that had an ascending aortic dissection and aneuryism. A length of my saphenous vein was removed to perform a CABG, I had a St Jude mechanical valve replacing my aortic valve and arch repair (approx 6 weeks ago). Everything recovery wise seems to be going okay but the wound site of the vein harvest (inner left leg just below knee to ankle) is still either hyper sensitive, numb or pins and needles....will this last ? It is very uncomfortable and achy at times. I am also a surfer and this is my back foot ! Very important ! Not that I can get back in the water for at least a couple of months. Thank you ! :)

Thanks for query.I understand your problem the symptoms you are facing are due to neuropraxia(nerve compression).that occurs due to combination of surgical trauma and tissue inflammation as part of wound healing.this effect may continues until inflammation subsides.(three to four weeks).just have talk with your surgeon once.regards
