hi doctor, my son is 6.5 yrs old, had a seizure one morning suddenly. He is put on oxetol 300 mg now. He weighs 20 kgs. CT normal. EEG showed right central C4 focus. Pls tell me how long do we have to continue the medication and what other precautions do we have to take regarding food and activities.
Generally we give anti epileptic drugs for 3 yrs and if no seizure then we stop it. tratment and type of drug depends upon type and etiology. In this case in view of single seizure episode, age of patient and central spike I would consider possibility of Rolandic epilepsy. anyway continue tab Oxetol. and if seizures recur then get MRI brain 3 T with epilepsy protocol done.
regards.
