How Long Should Microgynon 30 ED Pills Be Taken?

Hi, I am 27 yrs old and about to start using microgynon ED Fe family planning pills , (microgynon ED and ferrous fumarate ) which contains 21 beige coloured pills each containing levonorgestrel 0.15mg, ethinylestradiol 0.03mg. Now it also has 7 brown tablets each containing Ferrous fumarate 75 mg. I haven t yet had my period so is it ok if I start taking the pills today (05th May) as this will be my first time taking it? when do i stop taking them to let my period come- and during my period must I take the brown pills (ferrous fumarate) ?

Hello,

For combination pills, if you start the pack within the first five days of the start of your period, pregnancy protection begins right away.

If you start at any other point in your menstrual cycle, pregnancy protection begins after seven days.

So you’ll need to use a backup method, like condoms, if you have sex during that week.

Do take continuously for 21 day's followed by iron tablets intake and in that time you may get menstrual flow.
