How Long It Takes To Heal Episiotomy Wound That Is Draining Pus And Paining ?
i got delivered on dec 13 2012 but episiotomy wound didn't heal till now,i am getting pus and yellow drain from one point and throbing type of pain present, i wexed up in taking all antibiotics and injections now iam using placenta injections. what should i do now? please slove my problem.
Normally in the absence of any infection, the episiotomy gets healed up within 5 days. However, if there is pus draining, it means that it is infected. Infected episiotomy takes time to heal.
First step is to control the infection which will have to be done by drainage of pus and antibiotics. Inj. Placetrex are empirical injections which are supposed to minimize the fibrosis. Once the infection is healed, then the wound, which by now is gaping may either be left for secondary healing which may take any time from 3 weeks to few months depending up on the extent of gaping and depth of the wound.
If the wound has become absolutely clean, resuturing of the wound may be undertaken. After resuturing, it takes about 10 days for complete healing of the wound.
This area being very close to the anus is highly vulnerable for infections and hence utmost hygienic care is very important.
I hope this helps you.
