Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been sick for two weeks and was finally diagnosed last night with pneumonia. The doctor gave me a breathing treatment, liquid steroid and 500 mg of Levofloxacin in his office and sent me home with a script for more Levfloxacin and an Albuterol inhaler. I was breathing better today but tonight I am coughing really bad and both sides of my chest hurt where it hurts to breathe. How long do I wait for the Meds to work before I should seek the ER? They also prescribed me Hydromet to take at bedtime.
Hello dear. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. You should follow the doctors advice about the right use of medications. The time of healing varies but you can begin to feel better the second day and also the feever goes away. If you feel worse ho to ER. At this point it is not necessary yet. Take care. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you. Best regards. Dr.Olgeta Xhufka ( general and family physician ).
