How Long Does It Take For Bleeding To Stop When Off Alesse Pills?

Hi, i really need help.. I have been taking alesse birth control this month, and i stopped midway in the pack and am on my period right now. My period last 5 days an tomorrow will be the fifth day. But i didnt take the pill for my 5th day, am wondering how long will it take for my period to stop as am off the pill?

Hello,

You have not mentioned if you are on Alesse -21 or Alesse-28 pills. Alesse 28 has 7 sugar pills. You have to take each pill at the same time every day. The 7 sugar pills are also to be taken and you will get your withdrawal bleeding during this time. Your periods should finish by the time the remainder pills are done and you begin the next pack of Alesse 28.

But Alesse 21 does not contain any sugar pills. So, after you finish the pack of Alesse 21, wait 7 days without needing any pills, and then begin your next pack. Your bleeding should stop in 7 days. During this time if you have penetrative sex you should use other birth control devices like spermicide and condoms. In case you have bleeding outside the period of 7 days you are advised to get clinically examined by a gynecologist or health care provider.
