How Long Do The HCG Levels Take To Come Down After A Miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage on March 28 I was 13 weeks pregnant. D & C was performed that day. I had some bleeding it stopped on April 11th and then I received a period on April 29th until May 5th. We resumed intercourse on May6th. I took a pregnancy test on May 18th it came back positive is that possible? Or is it still the HCH hormone?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

HCG levels should return to normal in 2 weeks from a miscarriage. In your case, because the HCG is high even 4-5 weeks after the miscarriage, you will need to have a check with the doctor to make sure if this is due to a new pregnancy or due to some remnant pregnant tissue from the previous pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
