How Long Do Mifepristone Pills Take To Induce Bleeding?

Dear Dr, i am 6 weeks pregnant and took mifepristone pill yesterday night with much regret but haven't started bleeding yet? How long does it take to bleed from the time I take the pill and what are the possibilites of the baby surviving? If survives, how normal will the baby be?

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Abortion pill should be used under observation of gynecologist after getting proper guidance. USG should be done before using to confirm intrauterine pregnancy. Mifeprstone only does not cause induced bleeding as it cause just separation of implantation product from uterus. You require uterine contraction to remove product that should be done by using misoprostol. Mifepristone 600 mg followed by 400 ug misoprostol vaginally after 24 hour. 400 ug should be given after 4 hour if needed under supervision of gynecologist.
Mifeprstone cause fetal malformation in some caes so you can not countinue the pregnancy. So abort the baby by consulting the gynecologist after USG scan
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
