General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Caused by Epstein-Barr Virus, glandular fever or infectious mononucleosis You can pass the virus to other people through your saliva for up to three months after your symptoms subside and hence can be contagious to your boyfriend. So, take care about kissing or sharing personal items like cups or utensils.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
