How Efficient Are CL Lenses For Keratoconus In The Eyes?

Dear Doc,I am diagnosed with early keratoconus in both my eyes specifically in left eye. However, C3R is done on my left eye and it is fine. Now CL fitting is required. After trying 1-2 lenses, one is suited best for me according to docs. But the lenses are imported from UK based company by the name ROSE K, DAVID THOMAS contact lense costing Rs.15000/- which according to them are specially designed for keratoconus patients.

I just want to know that would this be fine for as far as these lenses are concerned. Though right eye is not progressing it is still and my age is 25 now, coz as docs say we can do C3R for right eye also as and when required.

These questions are arising in my mind-

1.     When & why Should I go for right eye C3R?
2.     These lenses are fine for me in all terms with this cost.
3.     This will improve my vision in long term?
4.     Do I require these lenses lifelong, even in my old age?
5.     After I get married ,do my children are also prone of getting this disease or not?

Kindly Help & advice.

Thanks!

1.you can go for RE C3R if documented progression is noted with serial topography and glass power changes 6 months apart.
2.Yes, ROSE K are specially designed for keratoconic eyes and hence the cost.
3.Yes, vision with CLs will be better than glasses but has nothing to do with progression or stabilization of keratoconus.
4. As long as you need good vision you need these CLS, In your old age you can have TORIC IOLs implanted once cataract develops.
5.Keratoconus transmission is very variable ranging from sporadic(i.e random, more common) than autosomal( more possibility of transmission ranging from 25% - 100%)
