How Does Marijuana Help In Treating Stomach Cramps?

I have been smoking marijuana for a bit now. I m currently 21. I have pcos and was diagnosed at age 13, marijuana has helped immensely with my horrible cramps. And the cramps I used to get off my cycle. Im also a very anxious person (all the time), and a bit irritable sometimes. I was wondering, does it actually help? Could I get a prescription for it?
