How Do I Get My Lips To Stop Peeling?

Hi, I over exfoliated my face and lips. I also suffer from Rosacea. My skin is very, very dry and my lips are cracked and itching and burning around the lips. My face has been very red since the over exfoliation and I extremely dry. I am using Metronidazole 75% as prescribed. This has been going on for several weeks and I can t get in to see my dermatologist. What can I do so my lips stop shedding skin?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of dry lips, my treatment advice is -

1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good lip balm with sunscreen once a day.
2. Apply a Kenacort oral paste twice a day lips.
3. Take a vitamin B12 supplement once daily for 3 months.

If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
