Hi, please have taken misoprostol twice now at the 5th week if pregnancy I bled heavily for a day and since after then it has been just a drop of blood everyday till now which is close to the eight weeks of the pregnancy. I still feel the symptoms, I did a personal test and it s still positive. Please what do I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. If the test result for pregnancy is still positive undergo ultrasound abdomen and pelvis at the earliest.
Misoprostol is prescribed in combination with Mifepristone, if taken individually the drug efficiency is reduced. In some cases pregnancies continue after the Misoprostol failure, some women may have ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside uterus) and the uterine contractions induced by the drug are not of any help in such cases. If the pregnancy continue after the use to Misoprostol chances of birth defects are increased 10 times.
Hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
