Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you stated, the excess use of sugar would have definitely contributed to your weight gain.

There are different diets that help with weight loss such as: low carb diet or low fat/low calorie diet.

Low carb diets would normally cause the faster initial weight loss but both types of diets are effective.

Both would require reducing the use of sweet foods or deserts, also sodas and fruit drinks.

You can check out meal plans for both diets and see which one would be better for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

First of all, you should get your blood sugars and thyroid function tests done, to be followed by specific treatment for possible diabetes or thyroid problem.

Yes, curtailing sugar and eating sufficient calories (1500 to 1800 cal) through proteins, vitamins minerals, fibers and little of fat and carbohydrates (calculated and advised by a dietitian) would be helpful in getting rid of extra fat.

But exercises in any form of problems are essential for there would be loss at the cost of weak muscles.

Thus treatment of underlying cause is diet control and sufficient exercises in sitting posture (Yoga/pranayama/walking) as far as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
