Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have Fibroids in and around my uterus . I have an enlarged uterus . I m 54 years old. I ve had them for years. But the only thing my Doctor ever suggested was an hysterectomy. My cycle use to be so have I would use almost a bag of pads a day. I stop having my cycle when I was about 36 years old. I have pain in my stomach when I bend over. She tell me every year their is no change in the size of it. So just watch it or do a hysterectomy. I want to know if there was any thing else besides taking my uterus out
Hi, thanks for your question in HCM. I can understand your concern about the fibroid and hysterectomy. Your Gynaecologist's advice is absolutely correct. Unfortunately, hysterectomy is the only way to treat multiple fibroids and enlarged uterus and it is perfectly alright to undergo the surgery after 50 years of age. As the symptoms have been there for years and it hasn't regressed in size, it is better to go for hysterectomy. Hope you got the answer for your query. Good luck.
