How Can Urine Infection Be Correctly Diagnosed?

Hi, My daughter is just 23 days old and we got CUE done for her as she was crying before passing urine. Doctor had shown us that PUS CELLS are ranging at 2-4/HPF and hence there is an infection. However, the next day we got Culture test done, which resulted in Negative. Hence, just wanted to cross-check with you if she had infection or not??

Hello,

Pus cells are slightly elevated and it is not significant. As the culture is negative, urinary tract infection is unlikely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
