General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I would advise you for a battery of investigation like CBC, ESR, CRP, liver function test and throat culture to establish a diagnosis. In my opinion you may require a course of antibiotics like Amoxyclav or Levofloxacin group of drugs under medical supervision. In addition to antibiotics antihistamine or decongestant group of drugs are also advisable for symptomatic relief.

You can take acetaminophen for pain relief. You should do warm saline gargling 4-5 times a day, Lozenges will definitely help you which work by soothing the throat. You can take honey with few drops of ginger juice as a home remedy for sore throat.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask for follow up question I will gladly answer you.

Best wishes,
Dr. B R Hudda
