How Can Stomach Infection In An Infant Be Treated?
Hi.. my daughter is 15months old.. she did 3 vomits yesterday night.. my husband took her to a nearby doctor and he said that she is having stomach infection.. he prescribed Rantac and motinorm.. she has no temperature.. should I go with the prescribed medicine?

Hello,
Usually, stomach infection in infants is due to Rotavirus. It generally not requires antibiotics. The medicines prescribed by a doctor are alright.
Along with them, start ORS (oral rehydration salt - WHO approved). Dissolve 1 sachet of 20.1 gram in 1 liter of pre-boiled water. Give it to your daughter whenever she is thirsty or every half an hour to prevent dehydration.
So, start the above medications and if vomiting is not controlled in the next 48 to 72 hours consult pediatrician.
