How Can Stomach Infection And Vomiting Be Treated?

My 2 yr Old has contracted a stomach bug after having a stopped up nose. He has vomited every hour for the last 6 hours and is running a low grade fever. I noticed his heart was racing a mile a minute even at rest. Is this normal with a stomach bug and do I need to be concerned?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No, this is not normal.
This is suggestive of severe dehydration due to excessive vomiting.
So immediately take him to pediatrician.
He will need Intravenous fluids, antibiotics, anti emetic and oral rehydration solution (ORS).
Palpitations are due to hypotension caused by fluid loss in vomiting.
So don't worry, he will be alright once he get appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
