How Can Spinal Stenosis Be Treated?

All my back issues are in the lumbar region & I have been told they are all related to osteoarthritis. Diagnoses follow: spinal stenosis, three bulging discs, degenerative disc disease. I have been treated & my last procedure was radiofrequency neurotomy involving the medial nerve. It helped some for a while & now I am having the same severe pain every day. I am 74 & still active as much as tolerated with the pain. Is this how I should expect to live the remainder of my live having all this pain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since you are 74 and still active it is best to undergo for an active treatment and management.
Spinal canal stenosis, bulged discs causing the neurological pain can be treated by surgery by an experienced Surgeon.
You will have to find the surgeon dealing with spine only.
Till then have proper physiotherapy.
Be active.
Avoid lifting weights.
Avoid bending and such activities that can cause more strain on the affected areas.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
