How Can Soreness In The Right Eye And Headache Be Treated?

Hi A full bottle of medicine has just fallen from the top shelf of a cupboard and hit my head, just above my left eye. There is no swelling and I didn t pass out. It has made a small dent and bruising has started to come out. My right eye is sore and I have a headache, any suggestions please? Thank you in advance Sarah

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-Pain killer like acetaminophen 500 mg twice for 3 days.
-Cold compress over bruised area for 15-20 minutes, every 3-4 hours.
-Adequate rest
-Avoid alcohol,sedatives,caffeine for 2-3 days.
-Referral to ophthalmologist if the eye having impact becomes red or more painful .So that antibiotic ointment and padding with bandage may be done.
-Report to physician if headache worsens, bruise increases or if there is vomiting, vision problems, altered mind state.Have some one close nearby for help.
Thanks and regards.
