How Can Sore Throat During Pregnancy Be Treated?
My 34 year old daughter is 6 months pregnant, she had a sore throat for two days. Today she told me that the sore throat is gone but she has a nasty cough and green thick mucus that taste like metal. She is having a hard time breathing. She has a doctors apt tomorrow and she wants to know if she should be seen in the ER Thank you,

A sore throat most of the time is viral and goes itself however with a lot of sputum this may indicate a bacterial infection which needs antibiotics.
Many antibiotics are safe during pregnancy like Azithromycin or Amoxicillin and can be used. If she is feeling unwell she definitely can go to the ER and I think this is necessary.
