How Can Sore Throat Be Treated?

I do not have tonsils, but noticed on the right side of my throat there were several bumps filled with yellow-green puss, and my throat is sore on that side. I am being treated for sinusitis and bronchitis with amoxicillin. Should this take care of the sore throat/pus? And what could be cause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The throat symptoms you are experiencing is likely strep throat. Amoxicillin should take care of strep throat too. However, if the sore throat does not decrease after 24 hours, follow up with your general physician as you will need more potent antibiotics. You can also take Tylenol for pain and do warm saline gargle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
