General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite possible that you did have both infections present since you still have residual symptoms present at the moment. With the symptoms persisting for 3 weeks, it may be a bacterial and not a viral infection that is present. Viral infections do not normally persist for this period of time in most people. In addition to decongestants/antihistamine combination of medication to help with the sinus symptoms, you may need a course of antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
