How Can Sinusitis And Tonsillitis Be Treated?

I have had a constant sinus infection for over five years now with tonsil infection for a year. I have a thick green discharge from nose. My tonsils hurt are red and swollen, have tonsil stones, and about six months ago there was a dischage from tonsils with black specks (looked like black paint). I haven t been properly diagnosed or treated with any relief. Two days ago something bursts in right ear causing severe pain and hearing lose. My doctor said it was blood vessels and prescribe Zythromax. Left nostril is plugged more than right side. The right nostril has on many occasions drained clear fluid. Everything seems to be getting worse. Any advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
All the symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of chronic sinusitis along with tonsilitis. You don't need to worry because it can be readily cured with timely treatment.
I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist and get the following things done:-
(1)- Get a detailed examination of your nasal cavity to rule out polyps, deviated septum which can predispose to sinusitis.
(2)- A short course of antibiotics for five to seven days is needed.
(3)- Nasal decongestants like xylometazoline may be tried in case of blocked nostrils.
(4)- Antihistamines like levocetrezine can be tried for symptomatic relief.
(5)- You can try simple analgesics like ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.
(6)-Do steam inhalation frequently to open up blocked sinuses.
(7)- Check your oral cavity for dental caries,If it is there correct the caries tooth which can cause recurrence.
(8)- Do gargling with antiseptic mouthwash
In resistant cases surgical removal of tonsil may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
