How Can Sinusitis And Post Nasal Discharge Be Treated?

I had a pet scan and MRI for cancer detection and this showed up as a comment: Additional comment: Mild mucosal thickening of the bilateral maxillary sinuses. I have had sinus problems...stuffy nose, drainage...causing throat coughing. This seemed to start after a winter cold...and ENT I went to gave me a hearing test and said to keep putting a spray up my nose which had not given me any relief. What are the treatment choices?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There is salient management guidance for you as there sounds to be allergic congestion with a respiratory infection.

- discuss the need of additional flu shot with your doc
- get basic lab tests of complete blood counts and X-ray chest done
- deep breathing exercise
- inhalation of vapours of boiled water added peppermint oil
- avoid exposure to noxious substances
- prescription of decongestant, antibiotic, antiviral, oral steroids will help greatly to move faster recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
