How Can Severe Throat Pain And Raspy Voice Be Treated?

I have been making myself throw up since November 2016, and today my throats starting hurting a lot and i can t swallow or drink and barley talk. I have a cough and it really hurts. Also I got stomach pain on and off but not to the extend of going to the doctors because the stomach pain isn t that intense but my throat is really starting to hurt and my voice is very raspy at the moment. I was wondering if making myself throw up is the result in this or is it something else ?

Hi,

I would like to understand why you are intentionally throwing up. Are you suffering from bulimia, where you eat a lot and binge, and then intentionally throw up. If the answer is yes, it needs psychiatric evaluation and management.

If the answer is no, then sometimes intentional vomiting can cause esophagitis or esophageal tear, which can cause the symptoms( cough, sore throat, abdominal pain)that you are describing. the best person to see would be a gastroenterologist.

In the meantime, antacids like proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole might help. Or it could be unrelated, and due to a viral infection causing upper respiratory infection with sore throat and cough. Ideal thing to do is consult your treating physician regarding the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
