How Can Severe Pain Due To Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

I have fibromyalgia & have been diagnosed with bursitis in various body locations. I was taking Celebrex which made my liver enzymes elevate. Since stopping the medication I feel like garbage (especially in the right hip area to where I can hardly walk, but my liver enzymes are normal! Is there another medication like Celebrex that will help my horrible pain & not raise my liver enzymes?

Hello dear. There are many different medications used to treat fibromyalgia symptoms, including pain medicines, sleeping pills, and antidepressants. Some fibromyalgia medicines help ease pain. Others boost mood and improve sleep. Working with your doctor will help you find the right fibromyalgia medication to add to your treatment regimen.

The first medication doctors will often try for people with fibromyalgia is an antidepressant, which helps relieve pain, fatigue, and sleep problems. In addition, antidepressants help depression, which is commonly seen in people with fibromyalgia.

Tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline and nortriptyline work very well. They also relieve pain at times.

NSAIDs are available over the counter and include drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), and naproxen (Aleve) which are used for pain relief.

These medications can be used instead of celebrex which will not elevate liver enzymes to that extent.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
