How Can Severe Pain After Back Surgery Be Treated?
I am recovering from major back surgery which resulted in 3 levels of stenosis being repaired. I am experiencing excruciating pain 24 hours a day. I have been prescribed 80 mg of methadone in tablet form for 4 years for both the previous pain and sub sequent pain but hardly does anything for it. IS there another kind of medication I can use that will a) Decrease the pain, b) Last a long time, and c) keep the withdrawal issues in check? I have been told that the surgery is healing, but that I have anywhere from 8-12 months of this to look forward to. I am currently doing aqua therapy which helps for the period of the time I am in the water, but that s it. I am at my wits end and miserable. Any thoughts?

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.
