Hello there I have read through your question and would like to tell you that Gout is caused by the deposition of crystal of uric acid s in the joints. Colchicine is only effective in the acute attack of gout. To maintain the uric acid levels in the normal range you have to take Allopurinol on a daily basis at a dose prescribed by your physician. The dose depends on the uric acid levels in the body. If not controlled by Allopurinol alone Prednisone may also be added to the regime. I would advise you to not stop your medication s to stop any future attacks. Avoid meat and eggs as they increase uric acid levels in the body. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
