Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Severe Fibromyalgia And Arthritis Of The Spine Be Treated?
Okay, thank you. I have been on Percocet and other moderate to severe painkillers for years due to fibromyalgia, arthritis of the spine, and just general arthritis. I was on the Fentanyl patch but it s now priced out of my ability to pay. I ve been disabled since 2009. What do I do? I also discovered in November that I also have congestive heart failure. What can my doctor prescribe me to deal with the pain?
Long-term outcome for the majority of patients with fibromyalgia is sufficiently disappointing so that most patients can be considered to have "resistant" disease. Among published treatments, education, active exercise, and nighttime antidepressant medications perform best.
If you are suffering from heart failure means you need to use a fewer dose of NSAIDS depending upon your condition. Psychological or exercise or physical therapy is useful. Drugs like antidepressants with yoga meditation are useful. If symptoms not improved, please consult your rheumatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
