How Can Severe Fatigue Be Treated?

good evening, Iam taking statins and they make me too tired to work especially since iam 70 years old. Is there anything else I can take or change my diet? I eat very healthy, meat once a month, mostly veggies and fish and my doctor tells me my high glucose and cholesterol are hereditary and I need to take statins to keep my heart heatlhy. I don t eat anything with sugar and don t eat out, trying in Vegas. Thank you for your time, Lisa

Seriously? Statins causing tiredness? If that were true, then it is a very very serious side effect and they have to be stopped. More common are coincedences. The effects of stopping statins for 1 week are quite small. If the tiredness doesn't stop in a week then consider other causes. If the blood levels of muscle enzymes are elevated while taking the statins (common) then the statins are causing muscle breakdown and this could be worse for the heart (which is a muscle) than the risk of heart disease the statins are helping. So, blood levels of muscle enzymes. These will be negative and this makes the statins UNLIKELY as the cause of tiredness. There are a lot of other causes of tiredness, urinary tract infection, ulcers, cancer, thyroid, just aging, depression, other medications. All of which are mroe common than any side effect of statins.
