Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have restless leg syndrome. I take 5 mg of ambien at night for insomnia. It doesn t help my legs however. Would gabapentin be a possibility for me? I see my doctor next month and I would like to try if it is going to help without a lot of side effects. I can t sleep without ambien.
It is important to identify the cause for proper diagnosis. Dopaminergic drugs like Pramipexole, Rotigotine work well in restless leg syndrome. Gabapentin won't help.
Some antihistamine s also work well. You can discuss this with your physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
