How Can Profuse Sweating And Weakness Be Treated?

I’m 64, female, obese, no diabetes or HBP. 3.5 day’s nausea, profuse sweating after minuscule exertion, general weakness and shakiness. I take senna daily because after routine bowel surgery 2.5 years ago I have no parastalysis last foot of bowel. Did not take any last night. Been feeling like this since Sunday morning.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms you describe might be caused by a virus you might be going through especially because they are happening for less than a week. A viral gastroenteritis can cause nausea, sweating, weakness and shakiness due to possible fever as well.

Make sure you rest, drink and eat well but in frequent small amounts (so you don't throw up). BRAT diet (Banana, Rice, Apple and Toast) might be helpful. If you feel shaky and sweating please check your temperature and if axillary temperature is 38 or above you can take some paracetamol or ibuprofen (after food) to help with it.

If the symptoms last more than 3-4 more days or you are any worse you should see your doctor and have a thorough examination to determine the cause and properly treat it.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
