How Can Persistent Cough Without Fever Be Treated For A 3-year-old Child?

My daughter has had a cold for a couple weeks. Started with a sore throat and fever. Took her in. Not strep, Dr. just said it s a cold virus. That s gone and now it s morphed into a persistent cough, no fever. Should I take her in again? She s 3 and is too young for cough medicine.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Most often it may be a simple upper respiratory tract infection.

You can give her Paracetamol syrups and any expectorant cough syrups.

If symptoms persist, you can consult a pediatrician and start on antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
