Hi, my 6o yo diabetic sister is giving us qu.e a scare. She has been in and out of the hospital and rehab since last Sept. It started with a benign tumor removed from her neck, then pneumonia complete with breathing tube/induced comatose state for several days. She was home for a short time then developed extreme edema in both legs and up into her abdomen. All the while her appetite has waned on and off with bouts of diarrhea.. The hospitalists say she has CHFbut that is about all we can get out of them. She is on toremide and her sugar is staying fairly normal but she is in a lot of pain in her legs, extremely weak. Everyone seems to be content to let her lay in bed getting weaker and weaker. What kind of specialist should we take her to? She is in a rehab facility right now.
