How Can Painful Skin Infection On The Face And Chin Be Treated?

I have a skininfection on my face, on the chin below the lips. After I shaved (with an olld razor) the hairs got red and infected. It has developed into many painful sores - with clear stuff coming out. One sore looked like it had a pinple in the middle. I pushed my tongue against it from the inside and white stuff came out. It is very painful.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems you have developed folliculitis. I would advise you to not use any razor on the affected area as it may further aggravate the condition. Clean the affected area with an antiseptic and apply an antiseptic cream like Mupirocin which will help to control the infection. If the skin condition doesn't improve in a day or two you should get yourself checked by a skin specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
