My heals have been been hurting me for over a month. I thought it was my shoes, so I bought new ones. Some days better, but others worse. It is the worst when I first get up. This morning I could hardly walk. It gets better throughout the day, but I m still in pain
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
1. As the symptoms are persisting over a month, thus check with an Orthopedic surgeon for: Plantar fascitis, the common cause of heel pain. X-ray heel (lateral view). L.H.C. injection into plantar fascial insertion. If no relief, plantar fasciotomy. PS. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as a stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis, nerve irritation or, rarely, a cyst, till then. Foment 2 times/day with hot water in the tub. Apply any Rubefacient or NSAID ointment. A good painkiller (diclofenac) with Analgesic. Low dose steroid in acute stage with antacid. Physical therapy, night splints, othotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
