Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, my husband fell off a ladder in 2015 and doctors were able to save his foot they called it a log splitter. Now all of a sudden he cant walk with the pain in his foot, in so many words they are telling him it arthritis now because it is bone on bone. No one wants to help but it kills me to see him in so much pain They did say to him that they could fuse the ankle that maybe he could walk again without pain. I am just looking for an opinion. Thank you.
It looks like your husband broke more than one bone in the ankle joint & that the fracture still persists & causes pain. Let him Not put weight in the ankle & put him on bed rest & crepe bandage. Visit an orthopedics surgeon & get a re-take of X-Ray to screen out the type of fracture. All fractures don't need surgery but some do. Some fractures can be treated without surgery, it takes a little more time & repeated X-rays to monitor the healing process. For pain he can take a combination of Ibuprofen & paracetamol, (Combiflam), once or twice daily after food for pain. Do Not massage.
Hope I have answered your query.
