How Can Pain And Tightness In The Hips Be Treated?

I have had sciatica (sorry spelling wrong) off and on for years.... lumbar issues from time to time. Former Athlete, volleyball, basketball, softball and long distance running. I just thought my legs were sore after working on a yard project about 4 weeks ago but it never went away... My hamstrings are very tight and ache. My hips hurt... especially sitting and lying... Ibuprofen helps some.... I am so stiff and my quads and hips feel weak.... I had Lyme disease several years ago.... could it be that?

Hi,

Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected black-legged ticks.

Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. It might not be related to your present symptoms.

I would suggest you get an X-ray of hips and MRI scan of pelvic and lumbar region done. Kindly consult Orthopedician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
