How Can Pain And Swelling In The Ankle Be Treated?

I have a twelve hour night shift three times a week where i stand for most of the night the inside of my left ankle is swollen and it is painful when i walk but i have been putting up with it for about two months i keep saying i am going to go to the doctors but keep putting it off as i dare not have anymore time off work as i have had shingles in my back and chest last year and was off work for three months can you give me any idea what thecause could be thanks Maz

Swelling and pain in ankle common cause is ankle sprain.Have u twisted your ankle in near past? if yes ankle sprain is likely cause for pain. I would advise xray of involved ankle anteroposterior and lateral views to rule out bony abnormalities. you have to apply crepe bandage and keep your ankle elevated while not on duty. Tab trypsin chymotrypsin thrice a day for 7 days helps in reducing swelling. Tab diclofenac sodium 50 mg twice a day helps in pain relief.
Visit to orthopedic surgeon is recommended.
