How Can Osteopenia Be Treated?

I am currently 52 years old, five foot eleven with osteopenia. I had two of my parathyroid taken out in march of 2015. I am on tri sprintec. I have been on this birth control for about nineteen years. Is there any way I can fined out if I am in perimenopause or is the tri sprintec acting as a HRT?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes your ovarian status can be assessed by hormonal profile lab test as serum estrogen and ultrasound abdomen about uterus and ovary status. Osteopenia can be checked by T score or Z score by dual X-ray method.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi
