How Can Numbness In The Buttocks Be Treated?

Please advise me with next medical steps. 18 days ago I believe I herniated/slipped a disc in my lower back. I went to ER and sent me home with lower back muscle strain diagnosis and gave me prednisone and gabopentin. I now have numbness originating from my upper right buttocks and traveling down in the crease of my right groin. I also have pain adjacent to the numbness especially in the right pubic region. The pain is extremely difficult to define/explain. Very shallow and sensitive to light touch. I always feel better holding the area tight with support. Help. Thank you!

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your description of pain is suggestive of sciatica or nerve root compression related pain more. So better to consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of lumber spine. You may need physiotherapy, weight loss and surgery (only if indicated).

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
