How Can Mucus, Cough And Sore Throat Be Treated Through Over-the-counter Medicines?

Hi, My husband is suffering from allergies I think. he s got lots of mucus, says he feels like he s drowning in it, and is coughing a lot, esp. at night, and has also had a sore throat (he s had a tonsillectomy). The mucus is clear. I m looking for something OTC for him. Thanks Sherry Williams

Hi welcome to the health care magic

I can inform you about some drugs that you can take for your condition...

This case seems to be upper respiratory tract infection...

For excess mucus, Ambroxol tablet or syrup can be prescribed

Take decongestant like levocetrizine or phenylephrine for Symptomatic relief

If headache associated then sos paracetamol can be taken

Vitamin C lozenges chewed four times a day

Drink warm water and more water for soothing and breaking mucus

If no improvement then I need to investigate you with....
_Auscultation
_CBC
_chest x ray
_spirometry if needed
_throat swab if needed

Take care

Hope your concern solved

For getting above drugs you need to consult nearby doctor for getting prescription
