How Can Mood Swings And Aggressive Behaviour In A Child Be Treated?

My son recently started taking Invega for mood swings about a month ago. He has had 3 episodes of anger, yelling and throwing things over last week or so. He started on low dose of 3 mg per day. Shouldn t he have his dosage upped to 6mg a day or another mood stabilizer added to his meds?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests that child requires a combination of behavior therapy, counselling with child psychologist and supportive medications.

* I do not agree with self adjustment of drug dosages at this point.

Hope I have answered your query.
