How Can Ischemic Colitis Be Prevented?

I have just been hospitalized for the 2nd time for ischemic colitis. For 30+ years I have had GI issues. Once or twice a year I would have violent vomiting-lasting 6-8 hours- but was never related to food. About 10 years ago it became a lower GI issue. In the last 2 years it ended with bleeding. I m told these things are not related- and that there is nothing I can do to prevent a reoccurrence. What are your thoughts?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ischemic colitis due to atherosclerosis of the blood vessels that supply to the gut. Dear how do you know that your suffering from ischemic colitis?? Is there any color Doppler or CT angiogram reports with you.
Symptoms of ischemic colitis is Pain, tenderness or cramping in your belly, which can occur suddenly or gradually,Bright red or maroon-colored blood in your stool or, at times, passage of blood alone without stool,a feeling of urgency to move your bowels, diarrhea and nausea etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Avoid high cholesterol diet, don't exercise after eating, use anti hyperlipidemic drugs or anti-platelet medication.
Take low quality meals with increased frequency. Also check for compression of mesenteric arteries with duodenum or not.

Hope I have answered your query.
