How Can Intense Foot Pain Causing Discomfort While Standing?
I’m a 72 year old woman. When I stand up from sitting I always have an uncomfortable ache in the bottom of both my legs. It stops me dead in my tracks and grab hold of nearest thing to hold on or bend forward to relieve pain. Usually lasts about a minute or so. Thank for your response.
Your pain be due to plantar fascitis. In this condition there is inflammation of the calcaneal tuberosity at the bottom of feet. This occurs in elderly age. Pain occurs early while stepping foot on ground and gradually decreases as you continue to walk.
Treatment is calf stretching exercises before getting out of bed. Hot wax bath for 10 days helps in reducing pain and inflammation and should be taken from physiotherapy center. Tablet Ultracet P twice a day for 5 days can be taken for pain relief.
Do not walk barefoot. Soft heel cushion should be applied to your regular footwear. If this all is not helping local injection of Depomedrol under ultrasound guidance will definitely help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
