How Can I Increase Hb Level?

hi mam,
till five mnths of pregnancy my hb was 11.5 and at the end of six mnths now it is 7.7 sudden drop.I am regularly taking folic aci iron tab and calcium tab.And my diet is healthy too. so i was shocked.my hb electrophoresis report is normal.

Hi and welcome to HCM

A sudden fall of Hb from 11.5 to 7.7 is a thing to worry. You have moderate degree anemia

Your doctor may increase the dose of elemental iron tablets and also may consider injectable iron preparations which helps in elevating Hb levels.

If everything fails, blood transfusion is the best way to improve hemoglobin levels. Eat iron rich foods like Red meat, Egg yolks,Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards), Dried fruit (prunes, raisins).

Dont drink coffee or tea immediately after taking iron supplements.
